Raise the Carer's Allowance

Around 350,000 unpaid carers in Wales rely on a Carer’s Allowance of just £76.75 a week. It’s the lowest benefit of its kind. Yet we know our carers - young and old - do incredible work to support their loved ones and those in their care.

In addition, our paid care workers have been promised a bonus of £500 for their sacrifice during the pandemic. Many have still not received their payment, and those who have have been taxed on it by the Tories.

Welsh Liberal Democrats are calling for an immediate increase in Carer’s Allowance by £1000 per year, and for immediate full payment of outstanding bonuses to our paid carers.
