Elinor is a mum of two, a musician and childcare worker. She has lived in Cardiff since 2004 when she came as a student.

4) Barry Southwell

My career started in UK Government roles, working in many of our larger cities whilst focusing on taxation and export matters. I subsequently specialised in trade insurance, initially in UK assistance to trade, then with a Dutch based international insurer and eventually running my own small company, based in Wales, focusing on business finance insurance for local companies.

I also spent several years early in my career in Botswana, helping their Government build a fiscal system that enabled them to develop into a country capable of trading competitively on an international basis.

My main interest since retirement has been to lead groups on walking holidays around the world, using my language skills and satisfying my love of slow travel in remote places.

Ashley has lived in South Wales for over 20 years. They are a qualified Optometrist, having studied at Cardiff University, and currently work as a University Lecturer, where they have experience of both teaching and undertaking clinical research. They have been campaigning for the Welsh Liberal Democrats almost as long, with a particular interest in public transport and the environment. They are also a committed pro-European who is passionate about reversing the disaster of Brexit to improve everyone’s quality of life.
