The Welsh Liberal Democrats have announced David Mathias as their candidate for Pontypridd for the next General Election.
A lifelong resident of Rhondda Cynon Taf, David is proud to contest the Pontypridd constituency for the Welsh Liberal Democrats at the next election. For over 20 years, he has worked as a teacher at a local Welsh medium secondary school, educating thousands of young people in the community over the course of his career. As the candidate for Pontypridd, David aims to provide voters with a new choice and a fresh alternative to the major parties that he believes have failed local communities.
David's political priorities include demanding fairer funding for education and public services, pushing for greater investment in community policing, and advocating for more affordable, energy-efficient housing so young people can continue living in the area. Born and bred in Rhondda Cynon Taf, David is passionate about promoting Welsh cultural heritage and the Welsh language. With close family members working in the NHS, David is also committed to rebuilding a health and social care system that is fairly funded and provides care for all who need it.
With deep local roots and a first-hand understanding of local priorities, David hopes to be a strong voice for the Pontypridd community on the national stage.
