Gwynedd Maldwyn (Gwynedd & Montgomeryshire) is the new Senedd constituency covering the Westminster seats of Montgomeryshire & Glyndwr and Dwyfor Meirionnydd.

Cllr Glyn Preston

1) Glyn Preston

Cllr Glyn Preston has represented Llanidloes on Powys County Council since 2022, and was the Liberal Democrat General Election candidate for Montgomeryshire & Glyndwr in last summer's election. 

He is a first-language Welsh speaker and was born and raised in Llanidloes, where he now works.

As a County Councillor Glyn has campaigned hand in hand with the local community to fight for our public services like Llanidloes hospital.

Steve Churchman

2) Steve Churchman

Steve Churchman has a civil engineering background having formerly worked for many years in the railway industry. He is also a former shopkeeper and subpostmaster having owned a business for many years in the village of Garndolbenmean.

He has a long history in local government and has been a Gwynedd County Councillor since 2004 and has come to know and understand many of the problems and issues facing the people of Wales today, including job losses, health concerns, healthcare delivery and the impact of climate change in the region.

Steve has been married for many years and has three children, two grown up with one working in the far-east, the other employed in tourism locally in Gwynedd. The younger one lives in the family home. His hobbies include 3D design and printing and amateur Herpetology.

Richard Church

3) Richard Church

Richard is a Powys County Councillor representing Welshpool and a member of Powys Council's cabinet.

Richard's three top priorities are:

  1. Tackling the crisis on our our local NHS by investing in Social care to free up NHS beds and support our elderly.
  2. To support local businesses by cutting business rates and supporting our rural towns.
  3. Delivering the affordable housing and jobs we need to ensure young people are not forced to leave our area.
