Ynys Môn - Leena Farhat

Ynys Môn - Leena Farhat

The Welsh Liberal Democrats have announced Leena Sarah Farhat as their candidate for Ynys Môn for the next General Election.

Leena is fighting for a fair deal for communities like Ynys Môn that have been taken for granted by the Conservatives for too long.

Leena is a PhD. student in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Advanced Computing at Bangor University as well as a part-time member of staff at Wrexham Glyndwr University, where is the lead Data Technologist on the Community Open Map Platform (COMP) for Future Generations to chart the green transition on the Isle of Anglesey/Ynys Môn. She is a first generation British and multilingual young woman. She is a local campaigner, with priorities such as fixing our NHS, tackling the cost of living crisis, and delivering a fair deal on tax and benefits.

Commenting on her selection Leena Sarah Farhat stated:

"The challenges facing Ynys Môn demand urgent attention. With soaring living costs and child poverty rates ranking among the highest in Wales, it's clear that action is needed. As your candidate, I am dedicated to fostering quality local employment opportunities with fair wages, providing much-needed support to struggling families. Furthermore, I will advocate for the expansion of offshore wind and green hydrogen industries along our coastline, not only to create sustainable jobs but also to harness our natural resources for the benefit of our community.

Ynys Môn residents are grappling with significant healthcare access issues, from long wait times to limited availability of essential services. As your Member of Parliament, I will prioritize improving accessibility to healthcare, ensuring that everyone can access the treatments and support they need without undue delay.

Additionally, I will work to address the unique challenges posed by current trade agreements, advocating for agreements that uphold our local standards for health, environment, and animal welfare. It's essential to protect our farmers and food producers from unfair competition while promoting sustainable practices.

In Westminster, I will tirelessly champion the interests of Ynys Môn, striving for a fairer and more prosperous future for all who call our island home."
