First Ministers meeting: Plaid offering Wales a “false choice” between independence and the status quo

Commenting, Welsh Liberal Democrat Westminster Spokesperson David Chadwick MP said:

“Plaid Cymru spent the Senedd election telling voters that independence wasn't on the ballot. Those who trusted them on that will understandably feel betrayed to see independence being pushed back to the centre of Welsh politics just months later when so many other important issues need solving.

“Plaid are offering Wales a false choice between independence and the status quo. Wales needs change, but independence isn't the answer. We want to build Wales up, not tear it away from the rest of the UK.

“There is a home in the Welsh Liberal Democrats for those who want a stronger Wales within a reformed and fairer United Kingdom and who want to see us back in the heart of Europe.”
