Kemi Badenoch at the Royal Welsh – The Conservatives are no longer the party of the countryside

Responding to Conservative Leader Kemi Badenoch visiting the Royal Welsh Show today in Mid Wales, Liberal Democrat Wales Spokesperson and local MP for the Royal Welsh Show, David Chadwick, said:

“The Conservatives ceased being the party of the countryside long ago.

“Welsh farmers won’t forget how Kemi Badenoch and the Conservatives sold them down the river when she was International Trade Secretary for catastrophic trade deals with Australia and New Zealand.

“That’s part of the reason the Conservatives lost this seat at the general election.

“It’s the Liberal Democrats who are championing the countryside in parliament, standing up against Labour’s damaging family farms tax alongside their cuts to the farming budget and rural services.”
