Responding to concerns over SFS (Sustainable Farming Scheme) at the Royal Welsh Show, Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds MS said:

“Farmers are rightly concerned about the impact that the SFS will have on farming communities across the country. This week presents a valuable opportunity to raise those concerns.

"Pressure from the Liberal Democrats, alongside others, has already helped secure major changes to the scheme, including the scrapping of the 10% tree cover requirement.

“Despite this, we believe that the Welsh Government’s £238 million budget falls far short of what is needed to support farmers in delivering the outcomes the SFS demands.

“The sheer amount of bureaucracy that farmers face only adds to the pressure on the farming community that is already facing immense challenges like the family farm tax and inflation."
